The problem is with 2fa on minecaft account and microsoft account is that.... Yeah you probaly see it now right? If you give the email and password to the discord, the ratter will allready have the login to your email (outlook) if you use Microsoft's emails. And by that a 2fa code is useless because SOMEBODY think it was a great idea to migrate minecraft PASSWORD to the same password as you use to your email. What is the thing you allways use to hear? NEVER USE THE SAME PASSWORD. But this is impossible.

i remember when i bought MVP+ account from discord bot and i felt bad for the guy that got hacked so i messaged his friend but his friend wasted my time so i literally gave up RIP he was from israel so i couldnt speak his language i used google translate but he ghosted me like cmon i try to be helpful i guess he lost hope :D kinda sad i hope he gets his acc back since it even had his full phone number scary stuff that u can literally login to Microsoft acc and see someones phone number very bad security they should have done it like click here verify so u can see phone num,adress etc its horrible how poorly microsoft security is......

this scam is the reason i quit skyblock. i fell for it and the scammer took all of my items and voided my soulbound ones.

This is what happens when companies like discord try to become publicly traded, quality and security drops for the sake of profit for investors. I’ve been saying we need to outlaw the stock market for this very reason.

I moderate a large MC server (~9k players), and we've had waves of people advertising servers like this. Lots of people sadly fall for it. I've seen people in game saying "BAN ME" and also saying the scam at the same time, presumably since they've realized someone is on their account.

as a dev i could make one of these within 10 mins in 3 different languages. it is not cool

my brain decided to shut off one day and being a cyber security student i still for the otp shit, though, i pulled my account back from them within minutes so no damage was done and have been trying to gather information on the inner workings of the groups. Im glad someone made a video on this

Bout 9 months ago i was scammed in this way, got my Account Back but since then im more aware of those scams and i hopefully wont get scammed again

Sorry to tell you this but I don't think Microsoft's scams are fixable. You might as well be attempting to fix broken fine china that has a bunch of tiny fragments missing.

I went to download Forge and got a Trojan Virus stupidly I uninstalled the virus wich means I had to give it Admin access to uninstall itself. Luckily Spy Hunter Anti Virus found the sneaky bastard and killed the infection I think.

Hey, Cybersecurity enthusiast here. I'd like to point out this form of trick is called account theft or account stealing. There is no form of "hacking" involved 0:19. Also, I would not consider this a "Virus", rather a generic RAT (Remote Access Trojan) which allows the perpetrator to remotely acess your computer from theirs, or a command and control center 0:50. 15:16 is a really good resource! I'm not going to nitpick every little part of this video, good job.

There are discord selfbots that you can run >copy and it just dupes the server

there is a fix to make your MS account more secure against this kind of social engineering attack. the problem here is that the attacker can create an email/text/notification coming from Microsoft making it look rather innocent. If you actively set your MS accounts 2FA settings to exclude those options, this is no longer possible. To do this you kinda need to fight Microsoft because they want to push their own flawed solutions onto you, but they also support the industry standard: google-authenticator like one time passwords. if you want to enable this you need to go to the security option, then advanced security. 1. turn on 2fa if it was off. 2. Add a new way to sign in or verify > use an app Now MS tries to sell you their app, do not use it, it has the same problem and the attacker will be able create phone notifications. Instead click on 'set up a different Authenticator app' which is the industry standard established by the google authenticator app. i recommend against using their app, instead use a cloud based password manager (1Password, Bitwarden etc). otherwise if you lose your phone, delete the app, or migrate to a new phone you may risk losing access to your account 3. Turn off passwordless account. this is a security risk because it allows login only with email 4. delete all Text / email based verification methods. 5. because microsoft is stupid they will force you to have one email, however this email can be different from the email that is the name of your Microsoft account that you use for login. the trick here is that to generate an email the attacker must know this email. either have an email only for account recovery, so you know to never give this email to stranger or if you use google mail you can use a different trick. google mail allows you to add a so called plus tag and you will still regularity receive this email. to not get my comment shadow-banned i cannot explain here how to do it.... but you can google it easily. essentially after the name part of your email you add a plus and after the plus you can have any alphanumerical text. the trick is to have this text set in a way that even typing this will remind you that you are doing something wrong and make it unguessable by the attacker. for example my name is sirati so in my case it would become like this: sirati+only_account_recovery_microsoft_WLNQ3YXX the last bit is randomly regenerated, so email recovery essentially also is a password. of course note this down otherwise you yourself will also not be able to use it for account recovery if you ever would need it. 6. delete the email based verification methods, that you could not delete before completing step 5 now your account is locked down against this attack!
